2008  - BOARD RETREAT

Go Back to Scrapbook Index

The Southern Flames Board works very hard.  We meet once a month to plan classes and meetings and special events and then are on hand to make sure each one goes off as planned.  The Board gathers refreshments and sets up for the monthly meetings.  When a visiting instructor comes to town, Board members meet them at the airport, drive them from hotel to class, act as teaching assistants, prepare contracts and a welcome basket, run the class lottery, order supplies, and let students know what to bring with them.   The Board is responsible for the Southern Flames financial and legal affairs, and for its website. It also works with the ISGB to provide newsletter updates, Gathering beads, postcards, and even a scholarship.

This year the 2007-2008 Board decided to have a bead making retreat so we could spend some non-working time together.  Diane Kovach our co-president hosted it in her teaching studio where she runs group and individual classes..  Everyone who attended had a wonderful time because we enjoy playing as well as working together.

We hope the make a Bead Retreat an annual event and that some of you looking at these photos will join the Board and be part of the one we hold for the 2008-2009 Board.
